Description: The Discover® More Card is a major credit card issued  primarily in the United States. It carries no annual fee and cardholders can earn a “Cashback Bonus”, in which a percentage of the amount spent is refunded to the account depending on how much the card is used.

Cost: No annual fee. 

Credit: Good to excellent needed.

Note: I have had a Discover Card for over 20 years now. The following comments are based on my personal experience.

The Good:

• No Annual Fee.
• 5% Cashback Bonus in categories that change like travel, gas, groceries, restaurants and more.
• Up to 1% Unlimited Cashback Bonus on other purchases, automatically.
• Good Intro Offers for new customers.
• Over time the savings are good and compared to a credit card that gives you nothing back they are great.

The Bad:

• In order to participate in the 5% Cashback  you must sign up for each program.  It means you have to register 4 or more times a year.  However, if you have an online account registering is a simple one click process. Also, it can become confusing trying to keep track of which programs are for which months.
• The 1% unlimited Cashback Bonus on purchases only apply after your total annual purchases exceed $3000; purchases that are part of your first $3000 only earn .25%.
• If you plan to travel  outside of the United States you need to know that the Discover Card is not yet widely accepted. So do not depend on it overseas. Plan on taking your VISA or MasterCard. (The corporate web site FAQ section describes specifically where the Discover Card is accepted outside the United States.)

Summary: So is the Discover More Card really as good as it’s made out to be? I would definitely have to say “yes”. It is a great way to save money while shopping and my wife and I use it on a regular basis. The 5% Cashback Bonus can add up quickly. I would never use a regular credit card again that did not give rewards. I would highly recommend the Discover More Card if you have good to excellent credit. Also, it is best to pay off your monthly balance in full and on time. If you don’t do that you will lose all the rewards you have earned by paying interest and late fees.
